Four employees at Google fired earlier claim that they were let go for being involved in protected labor organizing. They also claimed that they aim to retaliate. In a letter shared with the media, they claimed that they are filing unfair labor means charges with the National Labor Relations Board.
The 4 employees state that Google fired them, partially, to send a text to other workers not to participate in labor organizing. “It is about making to stop all organizing at workplace,” their letter claimed.
Google earlier stated that the ex-workers had “repeated and clear violations” of data security rules—comprising performing “systematic searches” for workers’ materials. They supposedly shared that data further than the scope of their jobs and set alerts for what users were doing when, such as attending appointments.
The workers refuse this, claiming, “We have all been put through interrogations, some of us for long periods, and all of us had our status smeared in the media as Google spread rumors that we were breaking rules and making trouble who “leaked” sensitive data. This is completely untrue.”
Three of the 4 fired workers verify as LGBT and some of their activism has comprised operating with “Gayglers” by Google on problems such as equal health insurance advantages for same-sex associates before gay marriage was lawful all over the US, the media claims.
The charges and this firing are just the newest in increasing tension at Google. A number of workers have stated that they encountered retaliation after reporting problems at workplace. They have held sit-ins to increase awareness for Google’s supposed “retaliation culture,” and almost 20,000 workers have taken part in walkouts.
