Softbank have invested $47 billion in the last three years in United States economy.

Three years in the past at the Manhattan based Trump Tower, there were two billionaires who were standing in front of the media and making a lot of big promises. One of them was the now President Donald Trump who was fresh of his upset victory against Hillary Clinton only a few weeks ago. The other had been Masayoshi Son who is the founder and the CEO of SoftBank from Japan and was the executor of the Vision Fund which was a $100 billion vehicle for investment and had been recently made.

Trump in his campaign had promised that he was going to bring the jobs back to the United States and companies which ranged from Amazon to Alibaba had pledged for doing their part. Son whose SoftBank has the ownership of Sprint which is a telecom giant had seen the stalling of a merger with another telecom giant T-Mobile stall under the administration over the concerns of anti-competition practices. On the 6th of December though, in the lobby of Trump Tower the billionaire from Japan said that they would begin again with Trump at the helm.

Three years from there in the present day, Son is now close to the mark of $50 billion and is a year ahead of his schedule. A spokesperson from SoftBank has said that the Vision Fund and the other vehicles of SoftBank have put in close to $47 billion into the economy of the United States in the form of investment in many companies from the messaging app Slack to DoorDash which is a food delivery service. Close to half of the money had gone into the co-working giant WeWork.
